WASHINGTON – Ambassador Katherine Tai today met virtually with the President of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin to discuss the effort to end the pandemic and help the global economy recover. Ambassador Tai outlined the Biden-Harris Administration’s support for waiving certain provisions of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) for the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ambassador recognized that the proposed waiver was one part of the Administration’s comprehensive effort to increase vaccine production and manufacturing. She also welcomed President Parmelin’s views on steps both countries can take to strengthen the global response.
